Lab Technician Job Description The Lab Technician will support the environmental control team at a premier bio-pharmaceutical client. The successful candidate will collect, process, and analyze environmental monitoring samples to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and maintain a controlled laboratory environment. Responsibilities Process and prepare samples for microbiological analysis Perform routine environmental monitoring tests, including particle counts, microbial counts, and bioburden tests Maintain accurate and detailed records of sample collection, processing, and test results Ensure all lab activities comply with GMP and regulatory requirements Assist in the development and implementation of new protocols and procedures Calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment used for environmental monitoring if required Report any deviations or non-conformances to the Quality Assurance team and assist in investigations Participate in internal and external audits as required Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support continuous improvement initiatives Essential Skills Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, or related life science field Experience with microbiology lab work in academia Familiarity with microbiology lab techniques such as gram staining and plate reading Additional Skills & Qualifications Prior environmental monitoring experience is not required Experience with environmental monitoring techniques is a plus Work Environment The work schedule is Wednesday to Saturday, 7am-5pm. The environment is a pharmaceutical manufacturing site, with most work conducted in the EC processing lab. After initial orientation, the candidate will move to their team schedule for training, working with specific team trainers to become certified on routine portions of the job, a process that will take a few months. The EM team consists of 45-50 people split across day and night shifts, with a 2,2,3 rotating schedule on days or nights, and 12-hour shifts. The role requires gowning for Grade A, B, C, and D areas, and candidates must be comfortable with gowning in tight spaces, and must adhere to restrictions on makeup, fake nails, and jewelry when sampling. Flexibility with the schedule is necessary if things do not go as planned. Candidates are full-time employees, eligible for benefits including 6 paid holidays and 40 hours of vacation time. They are eligible to become a permanent colleague after a minimum of 6 months, with a potential pay increase at 12 months of employment.
