Miracles In Sight seeks a full time, experienced Eye Bank Technician for our Winston-Salem, NC office to help facilitate high volume donation program.
Requirements:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Works in a lab environment handling human tissue for ocular transplants Processes donor blood specimens for testing Evaluates corneas by slit lamp and specular microscopy, and interprets findings Processes ocular tissue for DSAEK, DMEK, and sclera preservation Distributes ocular tissue for transplantation and responsible for all associated logistics Makes donor eligibility determinations based on FDA and EBAA standards Strictly adheres to all MIS SOPs pertaining to lab environment Requirements Bachelors Degree in Science or Biology is preferred Appropriate experience as ophthalmic tech or lab tech may be substituted for education Experience working in an eye bank laboratory environment Thorough knowledge of ocular anatomy and physiology as well as medical knowledge Ability to meet multiple time-sensitive objectives and deadlines Must be available for weekend rotations Appropriate dexterity to use surgical instruments Ability to cope with issues pertaining to death is essential Demonstrate exceptional customer service Ability to interact positively with co-workers within and outside of the department Possess basic computer skills Must read and write English Benefits Medical, Dental, Vision, HSA, Retirement, Life, AD&D Opportunity for advancement Excellent Training Rewarding work
