Job Summary:
Performs a broad range of laboratory tests and procedures and serves as resource in area of responsibility. Employs thorough knowledge of clinical theory and technique and a broad use of independent judgment and responsibility with minimum supervision.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or associate degree from a recognized college or university. MLS/MT (ASCP) or MLT(ASCP) registration or equivalent such as AMT or AAB required. At least two years of medical laboratory experience for a MLS/MT and 4 years of experience for MLT. Provides training and education to bench level technologists and technicians. Thorough knowledge of laboratory testing procedures, quality control review and equipment. Ensure areas of responsibility are inspection ready at all times. Participates in the inspection process, both on and off site. Monitors turnaround time to ensure compliance. Assists in implementation of new instruments. Considerable skill in performing various lab tests. Considerable ability to deal tactfully with nursing and medical staff. Good customer service skills. Ability to use independent judgment.
