Laboratory Assistant Job Description The role of Laboratory Assistant involves supporting the consumer genetics group during its peak season and contributing to a special project. This position is part of a team dedicated to helping individuals explore their ancestry and understand their genetic health risks. Responsibilities Receive, stage, and aliquot specimens for testing. Perform required QC/QA duties, including error detection, maintaining records/logs, and pulling samples for rework. Essential Skills Experience in specimen collection. Knowledge of handling patient information. Skills in inventory management and labelling. Proficiency in specimen processing and data entry. Familiarity with accessioning, sample preparation, pipetting, and chemistry. Additional Skills & Qualifications Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in a science-related field is preferred. Prior lab experience or exposure is a plus. Work Environment The work environment is a laboratory setting where you will be responsible for discarding old samples and pulling samples to be shipped off to another biobank. The position operates Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.
