• And much more…The Laboratory Support Technician is responsible for ordering, processing, and distributing laboratory specimens; Duties also include: Review of pending reports, manifests, etc.

for outstanding lab results; assisting other lab personnel with specimen storage and retrieval, ensuring Turn Around Times (TATs) are met; and maintaining inventory for phlebotomy services, reference lab supplies, and departmental office supplies.

The Laboratory Support Technician will be cross-trained to perform other basic laboratory duties to include phlebotomy, along with other specimen collection, waived testing, and, if qualified, other technical lab testing.

Individuals in this position must be able to read, understand and follow applicable Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including safety and quality procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent requiredAssociate s Degree or professional certification(s) preferred. MLT or MTs will be considered for this position.

Experience:

General science background, including hematology/chemistry will be helpful. Experience with laboratory sample processing is preferred. .

Skills:

Attention to detail and accuracy including closely monitoring all aspects of the job and continually checking processes and tasks is required. Must possess accurate keyboarding skills and the ability to do data entry in a fast paced environment. Basic math, interpretive and analytical skills are required. Information collection and management, attention to detail, along with the ability to work under pressure are required in this position. Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

1. Sufficient sight (includes color discrimination), manual dexterity and mobility to function efficiently in exercising job responsibilities.2. Works in hazardous and bio-hazardous areas of the laboratory and is subject to cuts and punctures from equipment.3. Will be walking, bending and standing for 20-40 % of work shift.4. Ability to communicate verbally on phone and in person.5. For clerical, may sit for long periods, walking short distances for most of work shift.6. Able to lift 20 lbs. as required to stock reagents and various lab supplies.7. Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written).8. Ability to remain calm, continue to function effectively and develop priorities during stressful situations.9. Works scheduled hours that include weekends, holidays, and nights as necessary.
