Job Summary:
Trane Technologies has an exciting opportunity for an on-site position in our new Engineering & Technology Laboratory in Davidson, NC as a Lab Technician Co-op for the summer and fall . Your primary function in this entry-level position is to assist in building and validating facilities and sub-systems for laboratory testing to support product development for Commercial Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (CVHAC) Products. The role requires a high level of problem solving, troubleshooting, organization, and collaboration with other lab and engineering team members to ensure timely completion of projects.
Responsibilities:
Work safely and maintain a safe work area in accordance with company policies and procedures Assist more senior technicians to install, troubleshoot, and validate lab devices and systems. Set up and instrument HVAC units for testing in laboratory facilities Assist with reading blueprints, manuals, or other specifications to determine installation or modification procedures Assist in identifying, specifying, and ordering parts
Qualifications:
Currently and actively enrolled to receive a certificate or degree in a relevant technical field such as HVAC or electronics technical degree, mechanical engineering or electrical engineering. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook) required.
Key Competencies:
Mechanical aptitude. Experienced and comfortable with hand tools and power tools Familiarity with instrumentation and data acquisition Basic understanding of schematics, reading, and interpreting engineering drawings, technical reports, safety rules, operation, and maintenance instructions Ability to help solve practical problems and deal with a variety of complex variables in situations where only limited standardization exists Ability to communicate effectively through verbal and written means Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced team environment Experience working with PLC’s and controls is a plus
