Note:
Should be20 hrs week/5 days week M-F, flexible on the actual hrs within theday upon finding the right person. This is an entry level position,but a background in Biology/Biotech is required. A 4 yr sciencedegree would be preferred. A preferred candidate would be a recentgrad or someone with 0-3 yrs experience working in a laboratoryenvironment whether that be academia or industry.
Description:
Thispart time laboratory technician role would require the incumbent toperform routine support tasks, study preparation and generallaboratory upkeep. They would perform routine tasks independentlyafter on the job training, and assist laboratory scientists withstudy work, sampling and in-process testing.
Routine tasks include:
Washing glassware (loading glassware washer as well as manualsoaking) Calibrating pH / conductivity meters Preparing solutionsand reagents Participate in laboratory safety audits Ordering andstocking general laboratory supplies Inventory and routine cleanouts of freezers and cold rooms Package pick-up fromshipping/receiving Packaging and autoclaving parts Reviewinglogbooks Help with routine upkeep of analyzers and laboratoryinstruments (NOVA FLEX2, pH/conductivity meter, ViCell, Solo
VPE,AKTA
Avant, HPLC) Assist with laboratory 6S initiatives Helpcoordinate equipment troubleshooting/repairs, pipette calibrationsAssist Scientist level personnel with study work and performroutine assays Complete weekly checklist for laboratoryhousekeeping Obtain quotes and lead times from vendors for studymaterials This part time laboratory technician role would requirethe incumbent to perform routine support tasks, study preparationand general laboratory upkeep.
