Senior Lab Computing Technician Job Description The Senior Computing Technician plays a crucial role in providing frontline technical support to internal end users, ensuring uninterrupted services within a regulated biorepository and laboratory environment. This position involves managing user support requests, executing documented processes for account provisioning, equipment lifecycle management, and compliance-based activities. Responsibilities Serve as the initial point of contact for technical issues and service requests. Troubleshoot and resolve problems related to Windows workstations, Microsoft 365, VPN access, label printers, barcode scanners, and standard enterprise tools. Maintain accurate and timely updates in the JIRA ticketing system for all user interactions. Provide remote support using tools such as Datto RMM. Execute onboarding and offboarding procedures, including account creation/deactivation, hardware provisioning, mobile phone setup, and access configurations. Ensure all access is granted or removed according to approved change control processes. Adhere to existing SOPs and work instructions; draft new procedures where documentation is lacking. Participate in annual user account audits and support audit preparations. Manage inventory, including tracking, labeling, and stock replenishment. Assist with terminal service access and basic configuration of LIMS access endpoints. Coordinate with system administrators when escalation is necessary. Essential Skills Associate’s degree or equivalent professional experience. 3-5 years of experience in Lab Ops, helpdesk, or desktop support. Proficiency with Windows 10/11, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and common enterprise applications. Experience with Datto RMM, Intune, JIRA, and Adobe DC tools. Knowledge of user provisioning processes and asset lifecycle management. Strong problem-solving and communication skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications Life sciences or regulated industry experience preferred but not required. Ability to work independently and follow documented procedures. Customer-focused professionalism required in a regulated environment. Onsite presence required; limited remote flexibility for illness or extenuating circumstances. Occasional off-hours support for critical needs. Must be able to lift and move equipment up to 40 lbs. Work Environment The role requires working onsite in Piscataway, Monday through Friday from 8am to 4:30pm. The position is part of a team of three people. There is no travel involved, and weekend work is only required for special projects in rare instances. The work environment demands a professional appearance and adherence to regulated industry standards.
