Job Description
Material/Metallurgical Lab Technician Job Description As a Material/Metallurgical Lab Technician, you will be responsible for performing chemical analysis, tests, and investigations on metal samples, alloys, or other materials. Your work will contribute to product certification, metallurgical control, and the development of new or improved grades and types of alloys, as well as production methods. Responsibilities Operate and maintain all lab instrumentation and testing equipment according to procedures. Perform alloy identification of samples using lab equipment. Manage and maintain all data, forms, reports, testing, and communications as directed by work instructions. Comply with procedures that meet NADCAP, AS9100, ISO17025, and other required OEM accreditations. Adhere to customer specifications, industry standards, quality control documents, and work instructions. Participate in and perform round robin testing, both internally and externally. Ensure adherence to all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Work additional hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed. Support continuous improvement initiatives. Perform other responsibilities as required by management. Essential Skills Proficiency in chemistry, quality control, laboratory operations, quality assurance, and metallurgy. Additional Skills & Qualifications A minimum of a high school diploma with professional materials lab experience or an associate degree in Material Science, Chemistry, or a related field. Ability to read, understand, and comprehend documents, and communicate effectively with team members, engineers, and leadership. Mathematical skills including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Ability to use basic gauges and measuring devices. Problem-solving skills involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Capacity to carry out instructions in written, oral, and diagram form. Reliability and commitment to work at the facility in Chittenango, NY, including willingness to work overtime as needed. Work Environment The position is based in a lab setting, requiring adherence to safety protocols and standards for laboratory operations.
