PM Description:
Understands andadheres to the facility performance standards, policies, andbehaviors Laboratory testing personnel responsibilities include:
Following the laboratory’s pre-analytic and analytic procedures andmaintaining records of these tests Maintaining records thatdemonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the samemanner as patient specimens Adhering to the laboratory’s qualityassurance procedures, including documenting all: Quality controlactivities including quality control testing and calibrationsInstrument and equipment verifications Maintenance and preventativemaintenance Following the laboratory’s policies and procedureswhenever test systems are not within the laboratory’s establishedperformance specifications Identifying and documenting problemsthat may adversely affect test performance and notifying thesupervisor, assistant director or director and documenting allcorrective actions taken when test systems deviate from thelaboratory’s established performance specifications Ensures theaccuracy and quality of all results from pre-analytic, analytic,and post-analytic phases of testing. Notifies and documentsclinicians and patient units of all critical values and maintainsthe laboratory STAT turn around time requirements. Participates inregulatory readiness for CAP, AABB, NYSDOH, and Joint Commission.
Maintains 12 Continuing Education credits per year. Understands andparticipates in standard operating procedures, proficiency testing,inspection audits, quality program including reportingnon-conformances. Evaluates test results for abnormalities andconfirms those results per department protocols where required.
Participates in validations, training, and competency assessmentsas required. Responsible for inventory management of lot numbers,expiration dates, labeling, and QC requirement. Completes allannual mandatory training, in-services, and ongoing education asrequired. Performs other duties as assigned. - Performs blood bank testing related to transfusionmedicine and blood product distribution. Anatomic Pathology
- Performs histological procedures for routine, specials stains, andimmunohistochemistry Education & Experience Requirements CurrentNYS License as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist required.
Education in accordance with the NYS Office of Professions and CLIArequirements of testing personnel. Preferred with ASCPCertification.
