Description Laboratory Research Technician The Department of Biological Sciences is hiring a Laboratory Research Technician to support Dr. Anne Carlsons lab. Responsibilities will include animal husbandry, tissue preparations, making solutions, pouring plates, and molecular biology including, but not limited to cloning and PCR. Technician will be responsible for dissections and cell preparations, as well as experiments on the prepared cells. Must have strong verbal communication skills, be organized, willing to speak and present in lab meeting, and able to handle instructions provided by researchers. Job Summary Performs a variety of laboratory experiments and procedures. Prepares specimens. Oversees supply management. Operates and properly maintains equipment. Essential Functions Performs a variety of laboratory experiments and related technical functions, testing, troubleshooting, and analysis. Ensures conformity to specifications.
Identifies and prepares specimens.
Oversees supply management: ordering, procurement, tracking estimates, and receiving items.
Operates and maintains applicable laboratory equipment for job functions.
Keeps detailed, accurate, and timely data and logbooks. Organizes and documents results.
Maintains, calibrates, cleans, and tests sterility of laboratory equipment. Physical Effort Employee must be able to lift up to 15 lbs; Employee must have fine motor skills; Employee must be able to use a step stool; Employee must be able to ambulate around campus as needed.
