At Suburban Testing Labs – STL our main purpose is to protect public health and preserve the environment. We’re “built to last” with over 60 years of successful operations. Our award-winning laboratory provides a caring, family culture for our people. We are currently looking to immediately fill a Laboratory Analyst (Organics/SVOA – 2nd Shift) position. The selected candidate will be trained by our highly knowledgeable laboratory staff to perform important laboratory analyses that provide high quality, defensible data for our clients. A critical aspect of this role is to generate analytical data to help our clients ensure they are in compliance with governmental regulations related to environmental protection. This position works our second shift schedule Monday – Friday from 2:30 PM – 10:00 PM. The selected candidate will be trained by our highly knowledgeable laboratory staff to perform important laboratory analyses that provide high quality, defensible data for our clients. A critical aspect of this role is to generate analytical data to help our clients ensure they are in compliance with governmental regulations related to environmental protection. Our Laboratory Analysts are provided the opportunity to continuously learn, improve their skills and advance in their career with us. They work on state-of-the-art laboratory instrumentation and perform analyses using a variety of analytical techniques and methods.

What You Will Be Doing Receive training on a variety of organic/SVOA methods and demonstrate the ability to perform these analyses in a strict timeframe; Ensure the quality of the data being reported meets the requirements of the method; Analyze and enter data in the LIMS system for reporting to the client; Develop an understanding of the Quality system and support laboratory investigations and document updates/revisions; Gain basic knowledge of state and federal regulatory programs; Gain introductory experience with preventative maintenance for state-of-the-art instruments and equipment; Develop and maintain knowledge and understanding of laboratory systems and testing protocols, instrumentation and technology; Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Qualifications Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Science or related area. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of degree; Previous hands-on experience in a professional or academic lab setting is acceptable; Ability to manage and process high volumes of samples efficiently; Must be able to work first shift schedule Monday – Friday from 2:30 PM – 10 PM and be able to support a monthly Sunday rotation and a holiday rotation. Physical Requirements Ability to lift, push, pull and carry up to 50 pounds periodically during each work shift; Ability to lift, push, pull and carry up to 10 pounds constantly.

Balancing, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, picking, grasping, climbing, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion; The incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines; The incumbent is potentially subject to conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: odors, gases, poor ventilation.
