Poultry Lab Technician 3.5 3.5 out of 5 stars 189 Cheese Ln, Hamburg, PA 19526 Essential Job Functions The essential duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following :
- Responsible for preparing and processing necropsies of field samples while recording findings.
- Responsible for conducting gram staining and other biochemical tests for bacterial identification.
- Collaborate with Lab Manager for media and vaccine production.
- In collaboration with the Lab Manager, ensure quality control and measurements of bacterin batches.
- Assist with bottling finished vaccinations and monitor daily data during production weeks.
- Maintain vaccine inventory and assist in production scheduling.
- Assist with the setup, monitoring, and analysis of feed trails. This includes data collection, weighing, feeding, vaccination, blood draws and weekend flock checks.
- Conduct internal audit checklists for animal welfare and biosecurity compliance at corporate and contract farms.
- Adhere to and become a SME (Subject Matter Expert) in biosecurity measures.
- Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal codes and regulations.
- Report any animal welfare related issues to management immediately.
- Report any potential Food Safety issues to management immediately.
- Report any damages to company vehicles, equipment, and buildings via maintenance work order software program.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures. Minimum Required Qualifications The minimum required qualifications for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Minimum 1 year of equivalent experience in an animal agriculture or lab setting required; poultry facility preferred.
- BS/BA degree in a related field preferred; required if equivalent experience is not met.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record, required.
- Outstanding communication skills, both verbally and written.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to independently make decisions with minimum supervision.
- Ability to multitask and effectively prioritize workload.
- Knowledge of animal welfare, biosecurity, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Advanced personal computer skills: Working knowledge of Excel and Outlook.3
- Strong teamwork skills with a willingness to assist others.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to comply with all company policies and procedures.
Job Type:
Full-time Pay:
$17.00 – $22.00 per hour
