Responsibilities include (but are not limited to), data collection, maintenance of lab compliance and accreditation, and day-to-day coordination of laboratory personnel. Demonstrates commitment to conducting business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures, and regulations. This position is established in support of expanded research activities. Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience Requires a bachelor’s degree in a job related field and 1 or more years of job related experience, which may be substituted by an equivalent combination of job related certification, training, education, and/or experience. Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials Preferred Qualifications Expertise with basic molecular biology techniques (e.g., Western blot, PCR, histology, microscopic imaging, cell culture, etc.). Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with other laboratory workers. Must be motivated and capable of working independently, as well as collaboratively. Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office and data analysis software. Record keeping, management, and communication skills. Expertise with basic molecular biology techniques (e.g., Western blot, PCR, histology, microscopic imaging, cell culture, etc.). Required to conduct business lawfully and ethically by consistently adhering to compliance policies, procedures, and regulations. Job Duties Job Duty Assists PI in overseeing the activities of lab employees, graduate students, and others engaged in research or related lab activities. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 20 Job Duty Conducts experiments and collects preliminary research data for various research activities in the lab. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 20 Job Duty Pairs mice and collects tail snips to perform genotyping activities for mouse colonies. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 20 Job Duty Teaches lab techniques and safety procedures through written and verbal communication, as needed. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 15 Job Duty Maintains lab compliance and accreditation (e.g. IACUC and IBC protocols) by updating and submitting IACUC an IBC amendments. Performs require revisions, as needed. Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 10 Job Duty Maintains inventories of chemicals and biological samples, as well as general lab cleanliness. Ensures cleanliness issues are addressed and remedied by appropriate lab personnel.
