A Brief Overview Assists with the multidiscliplinary conference preparation for the Methodist Cancer Institute by coordinating and organizing pathology materials for presentations. Serves as a liaison between surgeons, medical oncologists and radiation oncologists to provide best practice of care for cancer patients. What you will do Organizes pathology materials for multiple Multidisciplinary Cancer Conferences and ensures availability of relevant information sources for presentation at meetings. Produces and circulates the list of patient cases to be discussed forwarded from individual physicians and cancer registry associates. Ensures relevant, up-to-date patient information such as test results, pathology slides and other relevant information are available prior to the conference. Maintains the pathology slides and blocks in an orderly fashion. Adheres to strict deadlines set forth to acquire relevant patient information in order for it to be presented. Maintains confidentiality of all patient and department information. Understands, applies, and supports departmental/hospital policies, procedures and standards. Provides feedback as needed for Commission on Cancer standards. Provides assistance to Pathologists and other Lab departments. Performs other duties as assigned or requested. Education/Formal Training Requirements High School Diploma or Equivalent Associate’s Degree Work Experience Requirements 1-3 years Administrative or clerical Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of technology equipment such as audio visual equipment. Knowledge of medical terminology. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Demonstrates the ability to work independently and plan and organize tasks efficiently and accurately. Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively and professionally in a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural educational environment. Ability to effectively manage multiple relationships at various levels and to prioritize and complete various tasks in a timely fashion. Ability to have attention to detail and prioritize work on multiple projects simultaneously, and complete assignments in a timely manner. Ability to understand and prepare moderately complex written materials. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Supervision Provided by this Position There are no supervisory or lead responsibilities in this position. Physical Demands The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion. Must have good balance and coordination. The physical requirements of this position are: light work – exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently. The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
