Temporary Job Summary Undergraduate Programs, College of Nursing is accepting applications for a PRN Simulation Technician/Lab Coordinator. The primary functions of the PRN Simulation Technician/Lab Coordinator are to provide educational and technological support to faculty and students for simulation and skills lab activities including simulation/lab computers, audio/visual technology used for simulation/lab activities, simulation manikins, virtual reality technology, and any other technology used for simulation/lab activities; managing space, simulation/lab equipment and supplies; maintaining an accurate and current inventory of all equipment and supplies; collaborating with faculty and staff to assure accurate scheduling of simulation/lab space equipment, and personnel to support simulation/lab activities; and maintaining accurate utilization records for all simulation/lab spaces, equipment, and personnel including use of scheduling software specific to simulation/lab activities. Knowledge of standard office computer software.
Knowledge of technologies used for simulation/lab including electrical/technical AV, virtual reality, manikins, and other technologies used for simulation/lab activities.
Knowledge of current simulation standards for best practice as defined by nationally recognized organizations such as INACSL, SSiH, and others.
Knowledge of current healthcare practices, including current technologies
Ability to demonstrate strong organizational skills with the ability to manage schedules.
Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of faculty, staff, and students.
Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and ability to produce reports.
Ability to work flexible hours, including potential for some weekend days.
Ability to travel.
Required Qualifications
Associate degree in nursing or health-related field (Registered Nurse, Respiratory Therapist, Physical Therapy Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, Cardiovascular Technologist, Surgical Technologist, Certified Healthcare Simulation Operation Specialist) with current, unencumbered certification or license in Tennessee or compact state.
Minimum two years of experience in a healthcare setting.
Minimum one year of experience with healthcare simulation.
OR equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in nursing or health-related field.
Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) certification.
2+ years’ experience in healthcare simulation in higher education, military, health care, or other setting.
AV software and hardware experience.
