Duties include:

Demonstre ability to enter/review orders and sequence of assigned procedures based on the pient’s condition, to use judgment in selecting the most approprie applicion of procedures and guidelines, to accurely report and record significant pient informion. Provides direct nursing care to adult and geriric pients with complex problems according to nursing standards and Medical Center policy and procedure. This includes, but is not limited to: Checks pients into clinic, interviews pients and/or significant other and documents intake da per policy. Provides high quality nursing care using traditional and non-traditional modalities, including triage prior to provider face to face s, nurse health maintenance s, telephone triage, secure messaging, post hospital discharges, etc. Performs clinical pertinence reviews to ensure compliance with nursing practice standards reled to nursing clinical reminders thoroughly and accurely per due des and clinical approprieness. Demonstres knowledge, skill, and ability to promptly recognize and effectively intervene in potentially urgent or emergent situions including hypo/hyperglycemia, acute shortness of breh, acute chest pain, seizures, stroke symptoms, mental health issues, etc. Prepares, administers and documents medicions and immunizion as directed without error th may cause harm to pients. Demonstres advance knowledge and skill in preparion, administrion, and documention of commonly prescribed oral, topical, subcutaneous, and intramuscular medicions. Assesses records and reports vitals signs, neurological signs, weight, and blood glucose levels. Appropriely triages and prioritizes pient needs as routine, urgent or emergent in the clinic setting and modifies pient care/trement as needed. Serves as a resource for complex/specialized procedures (i.e. non-complex suture removal, non-complex wound care, blood draws and clinic specific procedures, such as ear irrigion) Performs venipuncture for blood draws, prepares specimens for transport and processing, transcribes orders, accessions labels, etc. Provides educion to pients/families about preparion for procedures and /or diagnostic tests, labs. Licensure:

Technically proficient in initiing, performing and completing assigned duties in providing care to variable pient populions. Knowledge and ability to appropriely carry out assigned pient care based on the pients’ conditions; to use judgment in selecting the approprie order and sequence of procedures and trements; and to accurely recognize, report and record relevant pient informion. Completed work [should need] only a general review by a registered nurse [(RN) or physician (MD/DO)] for approprieness and conformity with [established policies/procedures. Ability to observe, identify and respond to the pient’s needs for [care, including] medicion, equipment-assisted care and pient/family educion. In organizing and delivering care, the LPN/LVN recognizes and considers, emotional, cultural, spiritual, socio-economic, and age-reled factors. Prepares and administers prescribed medicions (oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular and/or intravenous) and performs trements according to established policies/procedures. Observes for physical and/or emotional changes in pient’s condition from prescribed medicions/trements, promptly and accurely documenting noted changes, and reporting any deviions from normal to RN or MD/DO. Knowledge and ability to recognize urgent or emergent pient care situions, seek assistance of the RN and/or MD/DO, and initie approprie emergency interventions as directed. Knowledge and understanding of human behavior, pient motivions and reactions to situions, and ability to appropriely utilize this knowledge in working effectively with pients, family members, and other staff. Establishes constructive relionships with individual pients and their families to elicit feelings and titudes, and to promote positive relionships, communicion and socializion skills. Fosters an environment of respect for individual pient and family rights to privacy and dignity in all aspects of care delivery. Effectively incorpores knowledge and understanding of established customer service standards in all interactions with pients, family members, and/or other internal/external customers. Knowledge and skill in performing support duties for complex diagnostic tests and/or specialized practices or procedures, which include preparing the pient, assisting in the diagnostic examinion, preparing and handling specialized instruments or other specialized equipment, and monitoring the pient’s condition before, during, and following the procedure. Physical Requirements:

This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, pushing, lifting, and transferring during administrion of pient care. The incumbent may be exposed to infected pients and contamined merials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolion situions or operive/invasive procedures, including the ability to wear a N-95 respiror. In addition, the incumbent must be emotionally stable and adjust to different types of personalities, demonstring compassion, courtesy, and concern. Must be able to utilize good body mechanics and have stamina to withstand stress. English Language Proficiency . Licensed practical or vocional nurses appointed to direct pient care positions must be proficient in [both] spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), and 7407(d).The incumbent must be able to perform all activities for the position without restriction. This will include work on expanded tours of duty, weekends, and the ability to push supply, medicion, and telehealth carts.
