POSITION LPN
School Nurse MAEF Public Charter Schools (MPCS) Mobile, Alabama Reports Directly to the Registered Nurse (RN)
Salary:
Performance Incentives based upon network academic performance Position Overview Accel Academy is seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to support the health and well-being of students during the school day. The LPN plays a vital role in ensuring that students are healthy, safe, and ready to learn by providing direct health services, managing chronic conditions, and responding to medical needs. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and a commitment to supporting adolescent health in an educational setting. Essential Functions Provide first aid, emergency care, and routine health care for students and staff. Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to physician orders and school protocols. Maintain accurate and confidential student health records. Monitor and manage chronic conditions such as diabetes, asthma, and allergies. Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student health concerns. Collaborate with school staff and external health professionals to support student health plans (IEPs, 504 plans, etc.). Assist with state-mandated health screenings and immunization compliance. Maintain a clean, stocked, and safe school health office. Educate students and staff on health promotion and disease prevention. Report any signs of abuse or neglect according to mandated reporter guidelines. Uphold all HIPAA requirements regarding student privacy. Required Qualifications Graduate of a practical nursing program approved by State Board of Nursing. Must possess a current LPN license to practice nursing in the State of Alabama. Must have at least three (3) years of experience in a hospital or community health setting. Must be computer literate with good communication skills. Must offer client-centered care. Must complete an orientation/training class held by the district.
Preferred Attributes:
Experience with electronic health record systems. Familiarity with school policies, educational settings, and child development. Flexibility and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
Terms:
Ten (10) month, 202 days contract with a salary established by the Board in terms of the Administrative Provisions and based on experience and qualifications.
