Your Specific Responsibilities:

This position provides practical nursing services to clients at the Bay County Health Department and at other sites under the auspices of the Bay County Health Department. This position is responsible for nursing services provided in clinics as well as assisting clinicians, nurses, and health support technicians assigned to the site. This position is responsible for the integrity and confidentiality of data sets under his/her control. Interviews clients, collects health data, and records health histories. Assists clinicians and nurses in clinics and as required, administers medications, treatments, and immunizations, all according to local protocols. Provides counseling/education to clients, parents and guardians regarding immunizations, family planning, STD’s and other public health issues. Administers immunizations to children and adults; provides immunizations off site as needed under the supervision of a registered nurse. Assists health support technicians with vital signs, screening procedures, and diagnostic tests, specimen collection. Informs practitioners/case managers of abnormal laboratory reports and makes referrals as needed. Documents assessment information in the patient record using SOAP format when appropriate. Documents services, counseling, education, and referrals provided. Completes Employee Activity Records, Time Sheets, Leave and Attendance Reports and other reports in a timely manner as required. Assists with triage and other client services. Performs other duties and cross trains as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Must have excellent communication skills. Must be able to work with children. Have moderate computer skills to include Outlook, Word, Excel.

Qualifications:

Must hold a current, active Florida Licensed Practical Nursing license or a multistate licensing from another Compact State. Must possess a valid Driver’s License. Preferred Must able to stand for long periods of time, lift a minimum of 25 pounds, bend and climb one flight of steps.
