JobSummary and Qualifications The LPN Extern delivers high quality,patient-centered care by performing a variety of care servicesrelated to daily living. Under the supervision of the registerednurse (RN), the LPN Extern assists the nursing staff withmaintaining a clean, organized, and safe environment. What you willdo in this role:

• Follows nursing care plans by performing directand indirect patient care under the supervision of the licensednurse
• Obtains and records initial and ongoing patient informationthroughout the cycle of care, including admissions data, vitalsigns, height and weight, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, bloodglucose levels, intake and output, and calorie counts.
• Documentsobservations, interactions, patient responses to performedactivities, and any physical or behavioral changes at time ofoccurrence. Reports observations of individual patients to theRN/Team Leader.
• Assists with mobility by regular turning andpositioning, dangling, and ambulating patients. Assists with use ofwalkers, crutches, canes, and wheelchairs. Transfers patients toand from other units, departments, or entities. Assists withdischarges. Demonstrates proper body mechanics.
• Provides orassists with non-medicated support care, including non-steriledressing changes, skin protection, application of heat or ice, andvenous compression devices.
• Follows patient and employeesafety/security policies and protocols, including hand hygiene, useof universal precautions, use of personal protective equipment, andadherence to isolation procedures.
• Prepares and maintains clean,hazard-free patient rooms. Empties trash and removes soiled linens
• Assists with patient/family/caregiver learning needs, abilitiesand readiness to learn. Identifies barriers to learning, such aslanguage or culture. Integrates this information into the patient’splan of care.
• Assists in the setup, removal, and cleaning ofequipment. Identifies malfunctioning equipment and initiatesrepairs.
• Performs clerical work as needed, including greetingcustomers, filing, answering and transferring phones, and relayingmessages.
• Assists provider in obtaining medical records anddiagnostic results.
• Serves as Monitor/Telemetry Tech for the unitas applicable What qualifications you will need:
• Basic CardiacLife Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment startdate
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 90days of employment start date
• NC (CNA) Certified NursingAssistant
• In LPN School
• No Travel Required
