Summary of Position The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for providing competent, quality, skilled nursing services in accordance with the child’s physician Plan of Care and ongoing physician orders. All care is delivered in compliance with the state specific Licensed Practical Nurse Practice Act and HealthCare for Kids company Policies and Procedures. The Licensed Practical Nurse communicates collaboratively and effectively with other healthcare professionals and the child and child’s family. Education, Skills and Experience Requirements Appropriate level of entry degree to practice as a licensed practical nurse in the State of Florida Maintain CPR and First Aid certification, and annual TB screening. A current license to practice as a licensed practical nurse in Florida. Two (2) years’ experience in pediatric extended care or a related field preferred. Experience working with the children, physically and mentally disabled is preferred. Knowledge of PPEC operations is preferred. Communicates and works as a team member. Must be able to pass a criminal background check, TB test, and CPR/First Aid certified
Physical Requirements and Work Environment Environment:
Work is performed primarily in a PPEC setting with extensive patient contact. Due to the nature of the work, the LPN may be exposed to bodily fluids and odors on an occasional basis.
Physical:
Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work with a patient; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 30 lbs); and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
Vision:
Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Hearing:
Hear in a normal audio range, with or without correction.
