Job Summary:
Provides care to patients under thedirection of a registered nurse or physician, functioning withinthe scope of license.
Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Contributes to the assessment of patientsand ensures the well-being of patients. Administers medications andobserves patients for adverse reactions to medications ortreatments. Performs laboratory tests and therapeutic services.
Educates patients/families about disease treatment plan includingself care post discharge, holistic health needs, availableresources and follow up care. May documents the provider’sencounter with patients. Lists all proper diagnoses and symptoms,as well as discharge/follow-up instructions and prescriptions, asindicated by the provider. May transcribes patient orders includinglaboratory tests, radiology tests and medications. Completespatient’s charts by transcribing results of any labs, x-rays, orother evaluations. Continuously checks the progress of dataavailability for orders, to ensure the patient’s workup is completeso that the provider is able to make treatment decisions regardingthat patient. May transcribes consultations or discussions withfamily and/or the patient’s private physician or the on-callphysician. Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION
Graduate of anaccredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Constantuse of speech to share information through oral communication.
Constant standing and walking. Frequent lifting/carrying andpushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs. Frequent sitting,reaching and keyboard use/data entry. Frequent use of vision anddepth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors. Frequent useof smell to detect/recognize odors. Frequent use of hearing toreceive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and/or hearalarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc. Occasional lifting/carryingand pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs. Occasionallifting/moving of patients. Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling,squatting, twisting, gripping and repetitive foot/leg and hand/armmovements. Occasional driving. Rare crawling and running.
REQUIREDPROFESSIONAL LICENSE AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
