Licensed Practical Nurse

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is a non-exempt position responsible for assisting the Medical Coordinator with assignments as necessary. These assignments include scheduling, maintaining, and participating in medical appointments with providers, ensuring the medical care of Unaccompanied Children (UC), providing first aid to the children as needed, helping maintain secured medical records, and overseeing the inventory of medications and equipment. Ensure all UCs are seen by a medical provider by scheduling and confirming Initial Medical Exam (IME) appointments. This includes transporting children to their medical appointments, completing the IME form, and making copies of necessary clinical information from the client’s chart.
Ensure accurate documentation of medication regimens for all children who need such services. Track medication logbooks to ensure information is being filled out correctly.
Attend meetings as assigned by the supervisor. These include staff meetings and compliance training programs.
Work on an as-needed basis during emergency conditions.
Provide emergency medical assistant care to all children/staff as necessary.
Inventory over-the-counter medications, prescription medications, and personal protective equipment and determine what is needed.
Assist with initial medical screening of each child at intake by performing rapid

COVID-19

tests on UCs upon admission and any other exam required. Document and report results to determine quarantine status.
Ensure concise and timely completion of all paperwork or documentation, including but not limited to administrative, clinical, or caseload requirements.
Review and maintain current medical information on all children, including taking vital signs as needed.
Act as a liaison between physicians/nurses and children.
Perform duties of Medical Coordinator when required.
Perform all other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

Must have a High School or General Educational Development diploma. The document must be translated into English if it is in a foreign language.•
Must have an active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) License in Florida.
Must have one (1) year of experience working with children.
Must have CPR and First Aid certification and maintain certification throughout employment.
Proof of Immunization for: Varicella (2 doses), MMR (2 dose), Influenza (1 dose yearly), and Tdap (1 dose).
May be exposed to communicable diseases and blood-borne pathogens
Endure short, intermittent, and/or prolonged periods of sitting and/or standing in the performance of job duties.
Ability to work under stressful situations.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency with computer skills; experience with electronic medical records preferred.
Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
Ability to form and maintain alliances with providers/organizations.
Must have a valid drivers’ license and auto insurance coverage. May be required to use a personal vehicle to transport clients. Must be able to drive the company van as needed to transport clients.
