Position Requirements Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) License in the state of Georgia Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross Minimum of one year of paid experience as an LPN in a psychiatric setting Job Responsibilities Administers medications, assists with patient teaching, assists health Aides and other staff with patient care and non-clinical tasks. Performs approved techniques to prevent and safely manage aggressive behaviors. Documents care according to policy, provides direct care, and participates with patients in divisional activities. Records and reports all observed signs, symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in the patient’s condition to the Registered Nurse. Follows policies and procedures in reporting medication errors. Administers medications to patients, orally or by injection, including intra-venous medications and treatments. Participates with interdisciplinary team. Assists with admitting, discharging, and transferring patients. Takes action to ensure patients’ safety and to maintain a safe environment. Participates in team meetings, development of plan of care, and shift reports. Participates in an orientation consisting of supervised on the job training. Be able to recognize Medical Emergencies and respond appropriately. Maintain acceptable standards of patient care consistent with Joint Commission, Centers for Medicare, and Medicaid Services (CMS) and Department policies, including diet and physical activity.
