DESCRIPTION
The PRN LPN assists in the day to day functions within thecampus First Aid Center as well as providing person-centerededucation to students to promote individual independence. The PRNLPN reports to the First Aid Center RN and is responsible forperforming nursing tasks such as medication observation,treatments, documentation within the student’s health record, andproviding care to individuals with physical, developmental, andintellectual disabilities.
Available shifts: 2nd shift: Monday through Friday 1pm – 9pm (7.5 hours of workwith an unpaid 30-minute lunch break). Please provide availabilityupon applying.
Weekend shifts:
Saturday and Sunday 8am – 9pm (11 hours of workand two unpaid 1 hour lunch breaks). Please provide availabilityupon applying. The PRN LPN reports to the Tennessee RehabilitationCenter on a schedule that includes nights andweekends.
Responsibilities:
Assesses students at the First Aid Center with a triageapproach Records vital signs Observes students self-administering medications and documentsprogress Oversees the medication observation process Performs treatments as ordered by providers Responds to medical emergencies on campus Documents essential findings in the student’s medicalrecord Collaborates with other members of the interdisciplinaryteam Attends meetings as requested Adheres to established protocols and procedures Works with a variety of students who have physical, mental, anddevelopmental disabilities Administers nursing care in a school-based setting Manages supplies and inventory in a fiscally responsibleway Possesses the ability to initiate tasks autonomously whenneeded Is on time for shifts and reliable Presents to customers in a cheerful, positive manner Assists with ADL’s as needed Possesses knowledge of adaptive equipment
Qualifications:
Currently licensed as a practical nurse in the state of TN Possesses knowledge of basic laboratory practices Effective communication and listening skills Ability to provide clear, concise information in a classroomsetting Basic knowledge of electronic data usage Must have exceptional customer service skills Basic skills using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint,and Outlook)
