POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Formal Education /
Training:
Licensed by the State of Tennessee. Graduate of an approved school of nursing. BLS within 90 days of hire.
Workplace Experience:
Patient Care Delivery Equipment and Skills Training:
The ability to work well under pressure, to function dependentlyand independently and to be flexible in applying basic nursingknowledge to a variety of settings.

Order Entry ComputerSystem; Telemetry; AT&T Language Line; Omnicell MedicationSystem;
Physical Environment:
A medical/surgical unit with patient population ranging from lessthan one year of age> ninety-nine years of age.
Physical Effort:
Requires the ability to communicate in English orally and inwriting. Requires prolonged standing and working for up to twelve hoursa day. Required to push/pull objects up to 175 lbs. Requires the ability to lift and turn patients with assistanceup to 250 lbs.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
Collects data on all patients within the appropriate time ofadmission utilizing skills of observation, communication andexamination; including data obtained from patient, family and othermembers of the healthcare team. Revises the patient’s care plan on an individual basis,identifying problems/needs, nursing diagnosis, standards ofcare/practice, interventions consistent with identified problemsand attainable outcomes. Assists with patient teaching, discharge and post dischargeneeds as appropriate for patient population. Functions independently with treatments, procedures andequipment appropriate to areas evidence by adherence to policy,procedure and competency based assessment and no pattern or trendof problem. Handles/transports/stores/prepares/administers/solutions safelyin accordance with hospital and departmental policies andprocedures Monitors and reports patient’s condition, evaluate patientresponse to treatment and modify plan of care appropriately and ina timely manner. Documents accurately and timely. Maintains healing and therapeutic environment for the patientand family. Maintains position specific qualifications. Facilitates staff development. Demonstrates responsibility for assigned communications. Maintains work area and personal appearance in a way thatreflects professionalism and demonstrates to our patients, visitorsand coworkers the importance we place on cleanliness, orderlinessand safety.
