The ideal candidate will have a strong background in behavioral health, particularly in working with geriatric populations. This role involves assessing and implementing treatment plans for individuals with behavioral challenges, ensuring their safety and well-being while promoting positive behavioral changes. The Behavioral Specialist will work closely with nursing home staff, patients, and their families to provide comprehensive care. Responsibilities Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ behavioral health needs and develop individualized treatment plans. Implement evidence-based interventions to manage acute pain and address behavioral issues. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic care for patients, focusing on infection control and overall health management. Provide education and support to nursing home staff regarding best practices in behavioral health and geriatrics. Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary based on ongoing evaluations. Maintain accurate documentation of patient interactions, treatment plans, and progress in accordance with ICD-10 standards. Engage in critical care situations as needed, demonstrating proficiency in airway management and other emergency protocols. Stay informed about advancements in physiology knowledge relevant to geriatric care. Experience A minimum of two years of experience in behavioral health or a related field is preferred. Proficiency in acute pain management techniques and infection control practices is essential. Familiarity with critical care procedures, including spinal taps, is a plus. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team are required.
