Highland Clinic is a multispecialty practice serving different patient needs. Dr. Anand Bhat’s allergy clinic is new and growing; thus, he needs help meeting patient demand for allergy shots. Position Summary:
You will function as a member of our clinical team, providing a key supportive role in the delivery of care that is safe, effective, patient centered, timely and efficient. Specifically, this job emphasizes the ability to deliver allergy shots to approximately fifty patients a day, adults or children. Since 2024, allergy shots are organized through a software called ModMed which will handle billing and documentation. This simplified the previous paper system.
Overview of Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Ability to safely administer subcutaneous allergy injections for both adults and children without injury or dosing errors.
- Ability to administer biological injections for hives, asthma, and atopic dermatitis for both adults and children. Examples include Dupixent, Xolair, Fasenra, and Nucala.
- Spirometry for asthma and pulmonary function testing.
- Schedule CT scans and their prior authorization
- Handle patient questions during visits and via phone, providing assistance and resolving problems in consultation with physicians.
- Use and maintain equipment and supplies appropriately.
- Work Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:45 am to 5:00 pm
Requirements:
- Pediatric experience highly desired.
- Ability to understand and comprehend the allergy shot schedule. This will be tested prior to hire (open book test with schedule available).
- Minimum two years of experience in a medical office (preferred).
- Professionalism and interest in quality improvement as well as open communication.
- Knowledge of proper spelling for medical terms and medications.
- Proper understanding of educational techniques in the instruction of our patients.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with patients, physicians and staff.
- Proficiency in proper communication and listening skills and effective telephone etiquette.
