Monroe, GeorgiaAboutthe Job:

The Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse works under thedirection of a qualified professional nurse. Participates in theplanning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care, withinthe objectives, standards, and policies of the department andwithin the parameters of the licensing board. Communicates andworks collaboratively with members of the multidisciplinary teami.e., medical staff, administration, clinicians, dietitians, andmilieu personnel. Takes reasonable care and precautions to ensurehigh client safety standards and a therapeutic environmentexist.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Provides direct and individualized nursing care to an assignedgroup of clients under the supervision of a registered professionalnurse, while always maintaining the assurance of client safety andfollowing unit and facility policies and procedures. Complies withall company safety policies and practices. Assists in relevant health and psychiatric teaching for clientand family. Serves as a role model for clients and peers. Shares responsibility for the planning, implementation, andevaluation of nursing care plans and nursing care. Effectively communicates with the medical staff, receivesverbal/written orders, and takes care to minimize abbreviation orother errors. Participates in team conferences, sharing knowledge,information, and ideas among team members. Prepares, administers, controls and accurately recordsmedications in accordance with the policy regarding theadministration of medications by a licensed practical nurse, withthorough documentation regarding administration effect and/oradverse effects. Observes, documents, and communicates with/reports to the R.N.in charge any clinical, physical, unit or personnel, or otherissues which could alter client care. Reports status changes andconcerns to registered nurses and doctors. Communicates with alldepartments as needed to assure total quality client care isdelivered. Consults, follows, and documents with sufficient detail nursingcare according to facility policy and procedures. Records clientsymptoms, responses, and progress concisely, accurately, andcompletely. Safely and accurately performs vital signs, electrocardiograms,phlebotomy/labs, and diabetic/glucose monitoring. Interpretsresults and takes appropriate nursing action. Provides coverage in emergency services as needed. Graduation from an approved Licensed Practical/VocationalNursing Program required. One or more years’ nursing experience within clinical area ofservice provided by facility preferred. Knowledge of and experience with psychotropic medications andmedication administration procedures. Ability to apply nursing standards and practice within arecovery setting. Valid current practical/vocational nursing license from thestate or from a nurse compact state, where applicable. CPR and de-escalation certification required (trainingavailable upon hire and offered by facility). First aid may be required based on state or facilityrequirements.
