- Job Summary and Qualifications
- The staff LPN performs therapeutic and preventative nursing procedures, incorporating fundamental biological and psychological principles in giving individualized care. Participates in developing health plans and education for OB/GYN, newborns, and medical/surgical patients for patients and/or families. Patient care will include all newborns, adolescents, and adults.

- + Performs therapeutic and preventative nursing procedures, incorporating fundamental biological and psychological principles in giving individualized care.
Participates in developing term health plans and education for OB/GYN, newborns, and medical surgical patients and/or families.
Patient care will include all newborns, adolescents, and adults. + Contribute to the development of the patient’s plan of care through identification and communication of patient’s need to the RN, evident by reporting and documentation. + Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to the following age groups; newborns, adolescent, and adult. + Provide patient/family health education that promotes health behaviors, supports recovery and enables the patients and/or family to be involved in decisions and their plan of care. + Physician orders are carried out accurately and efficiently and clarified when necessary within the scope of practice governing LPNs. + Assist physicians with patient rounds enhancing communication between the physician and the patient. + The patient’s responses to intervention and progress toward desired outcomes are assessed, reassessed and communicated to health care team. (i.e., changes in patient condition or behavior, education needs assessed) + Able to identify potential or actual victims of abuse and understands proper reporting mechanism. + Able to recognize adverse drug reactions and demonstrates understanding of proper reporting mechanism once reaction is identified. + Appropriately assesses the patient’s pain and involves the patient in effective management of that pain using age appropriate interventions. + Patient care equipment is utilized safely and efficiently in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. + Standard Precautions are promoted and followed in the utilization of principles of infection control in patient care. + The Unit Manager, Nurse Coordinator, Charge Nurse, or Nursing Supervisor is informed of changes in the patients’ conditions and guidance is solicited when appropriate. + Performs proactive patient rounding to anticipatepatient’s needs. + Achieves stated goals related to job performance. + Educational records reveal attendance at all required educational programs/in-services.
- What qualifications you will need:
- + Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date + Neonate Resuscitate must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date + (LPN/LVN) Licensed Practical or Vocational Nurse + Vocational School Graduate + Basic Cardiac Life Support, or CPR for Healthcare Providers must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date Rapides Regional Medical Center is a 350+ bed hospital and ER in Alexandria, Louisiana.
