Licensed Practical Nurses This is anopen and continuous posting for full-time and part-time positions onmultiple shifts throughout the Western MA Area of the Central/WesternRegion of DDS. The Department of Developmental Services (DDS) seekscompassionate nursing professionals to apply for our

LICENSED PRACTICALNURSE I

(LPN I) positions. This is an excellent entry level nursingopportunity for potential candidates who are interested in furtheringtheir career and broadening their nursing experience to individuals withintellectual and developmental disabilities. The LPN I is the firstlevel in the series and candidates will deliver care to our individualsliving in a community residential home setting. Our LPNs are anextremely important part of our team, developing relationships andworking with, not only our individuals, but family members, significantothers, provider agencies and other appropriate parties in order toimprove the overall health/quality of living for those supported by theagency.

Based on assignment, candidates may be eligible forvarious pay differentials.

Position Requirements:

Must possess acurrent, active license to practice as an LPN in the Commonwealth ofMassachusetts.

Agency Requirements:

Must possess a current and validClass D Motor Vehicle Operator’s License Incumbents must obtain andmaintain Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain arespectful, caring, tolerant, ethical, and empowering relationship withindividuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities; Capacityto assist/lift individuals with physical disabilities and/or limitedmobility; Knowledge of standard nursing policies, procedures, methodsand techniques; Capacity to maintain accurate records and exercisediscretion in handling confidential information; Familiarity with safetypractices and medical terminology/abbreviations; Aptitude to transcribe,read and comprehend the English language Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide exceptional nursing care and oversight by implementing theindividuals’ health care plan including charting vital signs,application of medical/surgical dressings, and administering medicationsas prescribed and directed by the primary/specialty physician Assistwith daily maintenance, personal care and other services of support asoutlined in the Individual Service Plan (ISP); Maintain individualrecords and files Initiate referrals for needed medical servicesincluding scheduling, hospital safeguarding, advocacy and otherfollow-up care; Engage in referral for supportive and health-relatedprotections Communicate health issues to staff and update theindividuals’ families/guardians in matters including hospitalizations,rehabilitation support such as physical/occupational therapy Informstaff of any medical concerns related to activity level that may hinderand individual’s progress Order medications and maintain medicalsupplies, materials and equipment Initiate emergency medical proceduresby applying basic first aid techniques and/or CPR and tracheotomy care,and catheterizations; Provide training for direct support staff on useof equipment and treatments Transport individuals to work, medicalappointments, recreational activities and other community engagements asneeded -go to websit for more detailed informationmassanf.taleo.net/careersection/
