Profile of a Natick Educator

JOB GOAL

Seeking enthusiastic LPN/RN for district preschool of approximately 75 students. The nurse will perform professional duties consistent with Massachusetts guidelines, regulations and statutes governing nursing, school health, and local district policy.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to relate to children at the required level.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to take direction from the Nurse and/or Principal.
Ability to work independently.
Maintain a safe environment.
Respect and protect the confidentiality of students, staff, families, etc.
Responsibilities
Render emergency first aid as necessary.
Triages students/staff with illness or injury and provides appropriate intervention
Maintain electronic student health records with appropriate documentation.
Maintain an appropriate inventory of supplies and materials.
Perform such other tasks as may be assigned by a nurse and/or Principal.
Collaborate with school nurse, teacher, therapists, and other school staff to help provide an optimal learning experience for students
Demonstrates professional behavior with all interactions
Maintain professional dress and appearance

Education:

Associates Degree or Higher

Professional Certification:

LPN/RN Certified in CPR, First Aid and AED
Specialized Knowledge
Strong knowledge of child development milestones
Strong knowledge of healthcare as it relates to children
Understanding of social-emotional development of students
Meet all state and federal guidelines in order to be fully licensed and highly qualified
Thorough understanding of and commitment to the principles and practices of diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice as they relate to student, staff and community engagement and cultivation

Preferred Experience:

Two years of experience in pediatric or community health
Previous public school experience preferred
Experience with Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Classroom, etc.) and PowerSchool preferred, but will train the right candidate.

Skills:

Demonstrated aptitude for work to be performed
Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish and Portuguese, are highly desirable
Strong work ethic and attention to detail
Candidates should have a passion for working with students, families, and colleagues
Candidates must be flexible and collaborative
Candidates must be able to multitask in a fast-paced, supportive environment that nurtures student growth
Candidates must be organized and able to meet ongoing, time-sensitive deadlines for work production
Alternative degrees/experience may be substituted for the above at the discretion of the Superintendent, if such a substitution brings a strong candidate forward.

Triages students/staff with illness or injury and provides appropriate intervention and follow-up.
Administers medication in compliance with school policy and state regulations.
Conducts all state-mandated screening programs for designated grade levels including vision, hearing, postural screening, SBIRT, height and weight.
Identifies specific medical needs relating to the particular health status of the student and facilitates appropriate management for the student in the school setting.
Serves as a health advocate for the student through communication with parents, health care providers, school and community agencies.
Manages immunization compliance per MADPH regulations for all current and newly enrolling students.
Educates students, parents, and staff regarding health issues.
Works with district and school leadership to combat systemic barriers that limit student, family, and staff members’ equitable access to opportunity
Identifies and addresses bias and its impact on rigor and opportunity for students and staff
Updates policies and equitable access procedures Any other relative duties as assigned.

may need to teach and support students with life skills development such as eating, cleaning, and toileting lifting up to and including 25 lbs
