Provides careto patients under the direction of a registered nurse or physician,functioning within the scope of license.

Job Responsibilities andRequirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Contributes to theassessment of patients and ensures the well-being of patients.

Administers medications and observes patients for adverse reactionsto medications or treatments. Performs laboratory tests andtherapeutic services. Educates patients/families about diseasetreatment plan including self care post discharge, holistic healthneeds, available resources and follow up care. May documents theprovider’s encounter with patients. Lists all proper diagnoses andsymptoms, as well as discharge/follow-up instructions andprescriptions, as indicated by the provider. May transcribespatient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests andmedications. Completes patient’s charts by transcribing results ofany labs, x-rays, or other evaluations. Continuously checks theprogress of data availability for orders, to ensure the patient’sworkup is complete so that the provider is able to make treatmentdecisions regarding that patient. May transcribes consultations ordiscussions with family and/or the patient’s private physician orthe on-call physician. Works in a constant state of alertness andsafe manner. Performs other duties as assigned.

Graduateof an accredited school of nursing or education equivalency forlicensing

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Constant use of speech to share information through oralcommunication. Constant standing and walking. Frequentlifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.

Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/data entry. Frequentuse of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches orless) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguishcolors. Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors. Frequentuse of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish bodysounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.

Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing25-50 lbs. Occasional lifting/moving of patients. Occasionalbending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping andrepetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. Occasional driving.

Rare crawling and running.
