LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE

(LPN)

PAY:

New/competitive wage scale for the LPN s with tuition reimbursement opportunities Position Overview The LPN is responsible for providing nursing care to residents as prescribed by the physician and in accordance with established facility protocols, local, state, and federal regulations. This role includes leading and directing CNAs in the delivery of direct resident care.

Reporting Structure Reports to:

RN Supervisor Assistant Director of Nursing Director of Nursing Primary Duties & Responsibilities Assess residents overall health status and document findings in the medical record. Monitor residents activities and provide nursing care in accordance with physician orders, care plans, and regulations. Coordinate, prepare for, and assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges. Communicate with residents, family members, healthcare professionals, and other disciplines regarding residents status. Take and record vital signs. Administer medications and document accordingly. Schedule assignments and duties for CNAs. Take and review reports at the beginning of each shift for resident updates. Observe changes in residents conditions and notify the appropriate personnel, physician, and family members. Regularly visit residents during the shift to ensure their well-being. Supervise and assist with feeding residents and administering tube feedings. Order medications from the pharmacy as needed. Carry out physician orders, including preparing lab slips, x-ray requests, and medication administration records (MARS). Maintain accurate and timely nursing documentation per facility protocol. Prepare residents for temporary leave or passes. Answer telephone calls professionally. Complete and file Incident/Accident Reports as needed. Ensure the nursing station and medication cart are clean and well-stocked for the next shift. Count and verify controlled substances at the beginning and end of each shift. Report occupational exposure incidents per facility protocol. Be knowledgeable of and promote resident rights. Prevent abuse, neglect, and exploitation of elderly residents. Maintain a safe and clean environment for residents. Review the 24-Hour Report daily for resident condition updates and treatment plans. Assist with MDS+ and Total Care Plan meetings as needed. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing. Act as an engaged team member, prioritizing resident care and well-being. Detecting changes in temperature and residents’ conditions Licensure Requirements Must be a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing with the Mississippi Board of Nursing . Occupational Exposure & Safety Tasks and procedures involve exposure classified as Category I (direct contact with blood or bodily fluids) as per CDC guidelines. Must follow all universal precautions and infection control procedures. Work Environment & Considerations Must be able to work in a fast-paced nursing facility. Must be able to follow instructions and work well with elderly residents. Prolonged standing and walking are required.
