LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE

(LPN)

New/competitive wage scale for the LPN’s with tuition reimbursementopportunities 12 houe Nifhr Ahidr Opportunities available PositionOverview The LPN is responsible for providing nursing care toresidents as prescribed by the physician and in accordance withestablished facility protocols, local, state, and federalregulations. This role includes leading and directing CNAs in thedelivery of direct resident care.

Reporting Structure Reports to:

RN Supervisor Assistant Director of Nursing Director of NursingPrimary Duties & Responsibilities Assess residents’ overall healthstatus and document findings in the medical record. Monitorresidents’ activities and provide nursing care in accordance withphysician orders, care plans, and regulations. Coordinate, preparefor, and assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges.

Communicate with residents, family members, healthcareprofessionals, and other disciplines regarding residents’ status.

Take and record vital signs. Administer medications and documentaccordingly. Schedule assignments and duties for CNAs. Take andreview reports at the beginning of each shift for resident updates.

Observe changes in residents’ conditions and notify the appropriatepersonnel, physician, and family members. Regularly visit residentsduring the shift to ensure their well-being. Supervise and assistwith feeding residents and administering tube feedings. Ordermedications from the pharmacy as needed. Carry out physicianorders, including preparing lab slips, x-ray requests, andmedication administration records (MARS). Maintain accurate andtimely nursing documentation per facility protocol. Prepareresidents for temporary leave or passes. Answer telephone callsprofessionally. Complete and file Incident/Accident Reports asneeded. Ensure the nursing station and medication cart are cleanand well-stocked for the next shift. Count and verify controlledsubstances at the beginning and end of each shift. Reportoccupational exposure incidents per facility protocol. Beknowledgeable of and promote resident rights. Prevent abuse,neglect, and exploitation of elderly residents. Maintain a safe andclean environment for residents. Review the 24-Hour Report dailyfor resident condition updates and treatment plans. Assist with MDSand Total Care Plan meetings as needed. Perform other duties asassigned by the Director of Nursing. Act as an engaged team member,prioritizing resident care and well-being. Detecting changes in temperatureand residents’ conditions Licensure Requirements Must be a LicensedPractical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) in good standingwith the Mississippi Board of Nursing. Occupational Exposure &Safety Tasks and procedures involve exposure classified as CategoryI (direct contact with blood or bodily fluids) as per CDCguidelines. Must follow all universal precautions and infectioncontrol procedures. Work Environment & Considerations Must be ableto work in a fast-paced nursing facility. Must be able to followinstructions and work well with elderly residents. Prolongedstanding and walking are required.
