Summary Provides basic nursing care by assisting in the assessment of theresident on admission and on an ongoing basis. Remainsknowledgeable about and communicates to the appropriateinterdisciplinary team (IDT) member any significant change incondition. Accurately documents all assessments. Seeks guidance ifunsure of any assessment findings. Participates in the careplanning process for the resident. Updates the care plan whenspecific interventions indicate the need for revision. Communicatesthe plan to the appropriate IDT members along with the residentsand their families. Implements necessary and appropriate nursinginterventions relevant to the plan of care which includes nursingorders, physician orders, residents/families educational andenvironmental needs. Ensures interventions such as medicationadministration and treatments are accomplished in a safe and timelymanner. Administers IV fluid only if IV certified. Documentsinterventions accurately and timely. Uses critical thinking skillswhen dealing with residents’ changes in condition. Notifies thephysician timely using the SBARR as the communication tool.
Maintains composure during any crisis situation such as familydissatisfaction, staff disputes, or inclement weather in a calm andprofessional manner. Monitors the care of the residents closely tosee that the care plan is being delivered effectively. Identifiesproblem areas and uses the QAPI process to actively address thesituation for immediate problem resolution. Remains aware of thestatus of the residents to quickly identify behavioral changes orother untoward signs or symptoms. Answers call lights and/orassists with residents’ ADLs as needed. Completes, at a minimum,twelve hours of offerings related to nursing related continuingeducation. Has a commitment to keep current with best nursingpractices through knowledge of Bethesda’s policies and self-study.
May be assigned other duties as appropriate. Job Qualifications Education from an accredited school of nursing that results inbecoming a Licensed Practical Nurse Current LPN license in the state you will be working CPR and AED certification required, or willing to obtain within sixmonths of employment IV certification required, or willing to obtain within six monthsof employment Long-term care experience preferred Must be able to assess the basic nursing care needs of thegeriatric resident Must possess excellent communication skills to interact withresidents, visitors and staff Time management and organizational skills required Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time Ability to lift heavy objects using proper lifting techniques andwith assistance when necessary Ability to transfer and move patients who vary with ability toassist weighing 200+lbs using proper lifting techniques and withassistance when necessary Ability to push and pull equipment weighing in excess of 40lbsusing proper techniques and with assistance when necessary Manual dexterity, coordination and skillful use of hands whenworking with patients and equipment Visual acuity with the ability to distinguish color Ability to physically perform necessary documentationelectronically and in writing •CB Pay range: $26.96- $43.25 per hour
