Utilizes the nursingprocess including: assessment, planning, implementation evaluationand recording of patient care and patient education. Providessupport to providers by anticipating needs and providing assistancein the provision of care. Coordinates services with other membersof the health-care team, internal and external, to provide complexpatient care. Answers or returns phone calls. Provides onsite andtelephone triage. Mentors and participates in the orientation ofnew staff. Provides leadership and models professional behavior forthe Medical Assistants. Assists with the check in process whenneeded. Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary care team andparticipates in huddles. Performs other duties as assigned.

- Utilizes nursing knowledge and required skills to insureappropriate assessments.
Assesses individual patient conditions utilizing clinicalobservation, medical record, verbal information and interactionwith patient/family and care team. Identifies the impact of cultural diversity and lifestylechoices on patient condition and makes accommodations for suchdifferences. Implements providers’ orders effectively and in a timelymanner. Responds quickly and performs proficiently and precisely duringcrises and emergency situations. Contributes to optimal efficiency and productivity of theclinical care team by anticipating needs of patient and providerduring the medical encounter. Utilizes clinical judgment and critical thinking to provideappropriate advice or intervention in response to triage anddocuments appropriately. Documents clinical activities in a timely, legible, relevant,comprehensive, confidential and accurate manner. Follows protocol for reporting equipment malfunctions, safetyhazards and incidents promptly to appropriate person. Utilizes Personal Protective Equipment appropriately. Contributes to quality control/safety by participating inroutine checks including code cart, medications, equipment andrefrigerator temperatures. Performs or assist with sterilization of instruments andcleaning equipment. Assesses learning needs of patient/family and selectsappropriate teaching method based on age, learning ability, andother pertinent factors. Performs/assists in medical procedures, treatments, and testsusing skilled technique, following all prescribed safetyregulations and documents as appropriate. Routinely makes accommodations to patients needs relative toage, medical history, condition of patient, and type of treatmentbeing given.
Qualifications•
Education:
Associates or Bachelor’sdegree from an accredited School of Nursing.
Current/valid License:
NC Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse License and BasicCardiac Life Support (BCLS) is required.
Required:
One year ofgeneral registered nursing experience preferably within the lastfive years. The one year requirement may be waived when a Bachelorof Science in Nursing has been obtained within the last two yearswith coursework in Community Health Nursing; and a community healthinternship has been completed within the last two years.
