Employee Health Clinic LPN:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of North Carolina Current CPR certification or obtained within 3 months of employment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

One year Medical/ Surgical Nursing or equivalent One year experience in Physician Practice office Working knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid guidelines and regulations related to a Physician’s Office Practice

MEDICAL ASSISTANT

REQUIRED

QUALIFICATIONS

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support or obtained within three months of hire

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

CNA certification Phlebotomy training or certification One year’s experience in medical assistant field or equivalent healthcare experience Certification or Registry listing as Medical Assistant through

American Association of Medical Assistants or American Medical Technologist Certified Phlebotomist LPN:

Working under the supervision of the Provider, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) participates in implementing the health care plan, provides and reinforces patient teaching, records and reports the nursing assessment and care rendered and the patient’s response to the care. Provides direct patient care including medication, treatments and personal care. Hours of work may vary from the established schedule in length of shift and days of work. Knowledge of care coordination. Knowledge of evidence-based approaches to self-management support, such as patient coaching and motivational interviewing. Knowledge of population management and proactively addresses needs of patients and families served by the practice. Knowledge of effective patient communication for all segments of the practice’s patient population but particularly vulnerable populations.

MEDICAL ASSISTANT

Under the direction of a provider or nurse, may perform common technical tasks or procedures which do not require the professional judgment of a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse and shall not be considered the practice of nursing for which a license is required. Following validation of competency, with a documented order issued by the provider and under the direction of a provider, may administer medications to the patient via the appropriately ordered and permitted routes; oral, sublingual, buccal, ophthalmic, otic, nasal, inhalant, transdermal, vaginal, rectal, topical, intradermal, subcutaneous, or intramuscular. Any occurrence where the available drug exists in a strength where a dosage calculation is required by the Medical Assistant preparing to administer the medication, the calculation must be verified by a physician, independent licensed practitioner or nurse prior to administration. Administration of any high-risk medications such as insulin, the dose should be verified by a nurse prior to administration – may only administer medications if a provider is on site in the office. Collects blood and bodily fluids for laboratory processing. Performs laboratory waived testing such as bedside finger stick glucose. Performs office procedures including general administrative duties.
