Responsibilities:
Deliver direct nursing care to patients, under the guidance of RNsor physicians, encompassing tasks like medication administration,wound care, and vital signs monitoring. Perform comprehensivepatient assessments, involving physical exams, medical histories,and medication reviews, to craft personalized care plans.
Administer prescribed medications and treatments meticulously,guaranteeing accurate dosing and adherence to establishedprotocols. Evaluate, clean, dress, and manage wounds, incisions,and injuries while actively monitoring for infection orcomplications. Continuously monitor and meticulously documentpatients’ vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse,temperature, and respiration rates. Maintain detailed and precisepatient records, recording changes in their condition, administeredtreatments, and medication management. Educate patients and theirfamilies on their medical conditions, prescribed medications, andself-care practices, with a focus on overall well-being. Administerand closely monitor intravenous (IV) medications and fluids,ensuring proper insertion and functioning of IV lines. Provide carefor patients with urinary catheters, including insertion, routinemaintenance, and diligent monitoring for complications. Collectpatient samples, such as blood, urine, and sputum, for subsequentlaboratory testing and analysis. Collaborate closely with thehealthcare team, including RNs, physicians, therapists, and supportstaff, to ensure seamless patient care. Address patient comfort andsafety requirements, including positioning, mobility assistance,and pain management. Respond swiftly and effectively during medicalemergencies, adhering to established protocols and delivering basiclife support as necessary. Adhere rigorously to infection controlprocedures, encompassing proper hand hygiene and utilization ofpersonal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent infections fromspreading. Safely handle, store, and dispose of medications andmedical supplies, in strict accordance with regulations andguidelines. Foster health and wellness by promoting preventive caremeasures like vaccinations and screenings, and aiding with healthassessments. Advocate for patients’ rights and needs within thehealthcare system, ensuring they receive the appropriate care andsupport. Stay current on nursing best practices, regulations, andadvancements through ongoing education and training. In certaincases, LPNs may supervise certified nursing assistants (CNAs) orunlicensed assistive personnel (UAPs) to ensure the delivery ofhigh-quality patient care. Other duties assigned by Management
