Nights 7p-7a; every other weekend and holiday; 3 12-hour shifts.

SUMMARY:

The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for providing direct patient care, usually under the direction of a Registered Nurse, in accordance with established plans. The Licensed Practical Nurse is a key member of the care delivery team. The Licensed Practical Nurse communicates the needs of the patient and the team; collaborates with the multidisciplinary team, takes direction from the RN and delegates appropriately to the other members of the team. 4200 4200 is a pulmonary medical surgical unit. A total of 37 beds, the Pulmonary Unit provides care to patients with general medical conditions and patients with respiratory illnesses. The 4100/4200 Units specialize in the care of respiratory and general medical issues. This unit has the capacity to care for ventilator patients and telemetry monitoring, as well as other high-acuity respiratory conditions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Patient Care & Service

• Promote and restore patients’ health by completing the nursing process; collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; perform various treatment procedures; provide physical, educational and emotional support to patients, friends and families; supervise assigned team members. Medication Administration & Reporting
• Administer medication and give/receive relevant reports, both written and verbal from/to appropriate staff as per departmental protocols. Documentation
• Ensure concise, pertinent and complete documentation using computerized medical record process. Preparation
• Ensure clinical areas are properly supplied and exam rooms are available and stocked.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Graduate from an accredited School of Practical Nursing or equivalent required. Current licensure in State of New York as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills highly desired. At least 6 months experience preferred.
