UPMC’s Summit Family Practice in Erie, PA, is seeking a Full-Time LPN w/Meds, PCN to join our collaborative and patient-centered team! This role offers a consistent Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. —with no weekends or holidays required—and flexible scheduling options to support your work-life balance. In this role, you’ll primarily support our Triage team , while also assisting with rooming patients and performing nurse visits as needed. Responsibilities:
Assist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing care for patients and their families. Possess the ability to obtain and interpret information considering age specific needs. Conduct interviews with patients to answer questions related to healthcare problems and provide necessary counseling utilizing all resource persons and materials available. Administer medications and vaccines as ordered by attending physician and keep abreast of changes in requirements for immunization, flu vaccines, and allergy injections. Responsible for sterilization of office equipment and ordering of stock supplies and keep appropriate records of same. Perform laboratory duties assuring compliance with OSHA and CLIA. Identify and communicate educational needs of patients to their physician and does teaching in these areas upon his/her request. Assist physician in patient examination and perform specialized procedures. Maintain competence through participation in continuing education and other appropriate learning experiences with necessary documentation. Required:
Graduate of an approved Practical Nursing program.
Preferred:
One year of clinical experience. Previous office experience.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Pennsylvania. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. Must complete licensure examination within
FOUR MONTHS
of hire or within one year of graduation, whichever comes first. Though temporary permits are valid for one year from the date of graduation, not one year from issue of permit (or until the results of the examination are known at which time it becomes null and void), UPMC requires that GNs take the licensure examination within 4 months of their start date or they will be terminated or demoted from the GN position, at the discretion of the BU. Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) OR Temporary Practice Permit (TPP) Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
