TO 8AM ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Nurse will have a strong background in psychiatric or mental health nursing, excellent clinical skills, and a commitment to providing compassionate and comprehensive care to residents with psychiatric disorders. The Nurse has Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork abilities. Knowledge of psychiatric disorders, pharmacology, therapeutic interventions, and crisis management techniques
Brief Outline of Duties:
Assessment:
Conducts thorough assessments of residents’ physical and mental health status, including vital signs, medication history, and psychiatric symptoms.
Care Planning:
Develops, implements, and evaluates individualized care plans in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Team, focusing on residents’ psychiatric, medical, and social needs.
Medication Management:
Administers medications as prescribed by healthcare providers, monitors residents for therapeutic effectiveness and side effects, and educates residents on medication management and compliance.
Clinical Interventions:
Provides clinical interventions and treatments, such as wound care, medication injections, and monitoring of medical conditions, ensuring residents’ overall well-being.
Crisis Intervention:
Responds to psychiatric emergencies and crisis situations, assesses residents’ safety, and implements appropriate interventions following established protocols.
Documentation:
Maintains accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing assessments, interventions, progress notes, and communicates with healthcare team members.
Health Education:
Educates residents and their families on mental health conditions, treatment options, medication management, healthy lifestyle choices, and community resources.
Collaboration:
Collaborates with psychiatrists, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate and provide comprehensive care and support to residents.
Quality Assurance:
Participates in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and regulatory compliance activities to ensure high standards of care and adherence to policies and procedures.
Training and Supervision:
Provides guidance, training, support, and supervision to the residents and other staff members involved in resident care in the areas of hygiene, medication side effects, first aid, and nutrition.
Scheduling:
Schedules clinic appointment times, coordinates the resident’s transportation, and reviews the results of medical assessments and testing.
Health plan review: Reviews the residents’ health plan, develops, and manages medical and medication goals for residents.
Available to work every other weekend as needed.
Group leader: Develops and runs nursing groups, acts as co-leader in group therapy, participates in treatment team meetings, and acts as a liaison between the resident’s physicians and the staff.
All other duties as assigned by the Associate Director. Qualifications and Education Requirements The position requires a current Pennsylvania LPN license and experience working with chronically mentally ill adults in a residential setting.
