Job Summary :

A Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN)provides specialized, advanced care to patients who are recoveringfrom critical conditions but require close monitoring and frequentassessment. They care for patients who have been stabilized fromintensive care but still require higher levels of monitoring andmedical interventions, often managing complex medical conditionssuch as cardiac, respiratory, or neurological issues.

Key Responsibilities :

Provide direct nursing care to patients in the PCU Stepdown unit,including monitoring and managing complex medical conditions suchas post-surgical recovery, cardiac conditions, and respiratorydistress. Assess patients’ conditions, implement and evaluate individualizedcare plans, and adjust care as needed to meet patients’ evolvingneeds. Administer medications, treatments, and interventions asprescribed, ensuring patient safety and adherence to medicalprotocols. Monitor patients for signs of deterioration and respond quickly tomedical emergencies, escalating care as necessary. Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and multidisciplinaryteams to develop and adjust treatment plans based on patientneeds. Educate patients and their families on medical conditions,treatment plans, and self-care strategies, promoting patientindependence and recovery. Document patient assessments, care provided, and responses totreatments in accordance with established protocols andregulations. Participate in the care planning process, ensuring patients receiveoptimal care and achieve desired outcomes. Monitor vital signs, maintain accurate patient records, and ensureall clinical documentation is completed and updated. Provide guidance and supervision to other nursing staff, includingLicensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) and Nursing Assistants (CNAs). Ensure adherence to infection control protocols, safetyregulations, and hospital policies. Participate in continuous education, unit-based quality improvementinitiatives, and professional development activities.

Qualifications :

Education :

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred;Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted.

Licensure :

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.

Certification :

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred for patients withcardiac conditions.•

Experience :
