Job Description SummaryMUSC Community Physicians (MCP) is anentity within the Medical University of South Carolina thatprovides healthcare to patients within the rural health networkthroughout the state of South Carolina. Under the direction of a registered nurse is responsible for allidentified nursing care behaviors within his/her span of controlduring his/her tour of duty and is accountable to the Charge Nurseand/or designated individual. The LPN participates in the care of adefined patient population. The LPN assists with data collection,formulation of plans for patient care, and participates withevaluation of outcomes of nursing actions.

Assists medicalstaff with preparation, examination, and procedure to includeinterviewing/screening patients to obtain personal data and chiefcomplaint, documentation for records, and vital signs. Performstelephone and in-person screenings. Participates in recording andreporting responsibilities; documents findings relevant topatient’s health care status or plan of care, documents accuratelyand consistently in accordance with approved policies/procedures.
Prioritizes and documents patient incoming phone calls, asassigned, regarding medications, medical conditions, and reviewswith provider as needed for orders or changes. Cleans and stocksexamination rooms and/or other supply areas. Documents all patientcare delivered in the medical record according to the medicalcenter policy.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Graduation from arecognized Licensed Practical Nursing program and licensed as anLPN within the state of South Carolina or a compact state.
One yearof LPN experience preferred. Current Basic Life Support (BLS)required, either a certification from an American Heart Association(AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent)or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer andHealthcare Provider.
