- Hotel Discounts Job Summary TheLicensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides professional nursing carefor residents of all ages in long term care, under the supervisionof a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician.
Demonstrates knowledge of nursing principles for the resident inthe relevant clinical setting. Demonstrates competency andpractices within the full scope of nursing expertise/knowledge andutilizes appropriate age and population specific standards relatedto the physical and psychosocial needs of the resident as per careplan. Possess the ability to perform testing to evaluate datareflective of the resident’s status and to provide the care needed.
Demonstrates ability to recognize problems, recommend solutions andrespond effectively to assist in an emergent situation. Ensures thehealth, comfort and safety of residents. Contributes to theassessment of residents and administers medications or treatmentsas ordered. Provides technical support to healthcare professionalsas needed. Documents resident interactions as needed and theoutcomes related to resident care, medication, behavior, activity,and dietary. Skilled in establishing and maintaining effectiveworking relationships with resident, health care providers, and thepublic. Ability to work effectively with professional andsupportive personnel as a member of an interdisciplinary care team.
Ability to communicate clearly and maintain confidentiality ofsensitive information. Counsels residents, family members and/orresident advocate, under the direction of a registered nurse,advanced practice provider or physician on prevention and treatmentplans. Knowledge of resident education principles to develop aself-care program. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications Graduate from an accredited practical nursingprogram as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Associate degree inpractical nursing is preferred. If position requires IVtherapy/management skills, the following is required in
NorthDakota:
graduation from a Board approved AASPN program where IVtherapy is part of the curriculum or completion of an IV Therapycourse approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing. Must haveattended a pre-licensure nursing program that included supervisedclinical experience across the life span as part of the curriculumor have had a minimum of 400 hours of experience as LPN at anotherfacility. Specific services/positions may have additionaleducation, training or experience requirements. Currently holds anunencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license with StateNursing board and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges.
Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specificcompetencies and certifications. Completes required annualcontinuing education units (CEU) and competency trainingrequirements of the department and facility.
