As part of our ongoing growth, Mending Hearts is expanding services with the opening of a new East Nashville campus, which will increase access to care and offer additional opportunities for staff and client support. Position Summary Under the direction of the Medical Director and Nurse Practitioner, the Detox Nurse (LPN or RN)•Part-Time plays a vital role in ensuring the health and safety of clients in the initial stages of recovery. This role involves conducting assessments, administering medications, monitoring withdrawal symptoms, and coordinating care within an interdisciplinary treatment team. The ideal candidate is compassionate, detail-oriented, and experienced in working with substance use or behavioral health populations in an acute care setting. This position is part-time and may include evening, weekend, or holiday shifts depending on organizational needs. Key Responsibilities Conduct nursing assessments on new admissions, including communicable disease screenings, vitals, and health histories Administer prescribed medications and monitor clients for adverse reactions or withdrawal symptoms Accurately document all care, observations, and provider orders in the electronic health record (EHR) Support and encourage client participation in treatment following detox Ensure proper handling of medications and supplies, including receiving pharmacy deliveries Maintain infection control and safety standards to ensure a clean, pathogen-free environment Perform CLIA-waived testing in compliance with regulatory standards Communicate effectively with the medical and clinical team to ensure continuity of care Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and compliance briefings Follow all organizational policies and procedures, including 42 CFR and HIPAA regulations Demonstrate current knowledge of clinical best practices and detox protocols Perform other duties as assigned to support client care and departmental needs Flexibility in scheduling and ability to step into various shifts as needed is essential for PRN positions. Qualifications Current and valid licensure as an LPN or RN in the State of Tennessee Graduate of an accredited nursing program At least 1 year of post-licensure experience, preferably in behavioral health, substance use treatment, or acute care Proficiency with electronic health records and routine nursing procedures Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team Knowledge of relevant policies, protocols, and medical documentation standards Physical Requirements Perform regular standing, walking, bending, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and assisting adult clients (100-300 lbs) with mobility Assist with transferring clients, changing linens, and other care tasks Work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to bodily fluids and potential crisis situations Maintain visual acuity for detailed observations and documentation Why Join Mending Hearts?
