POSITION SUMMARY
To support, implement, and monitor nursing care ina timely and accurate manner.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
FormalEducation /
Training:
1. Licensed by the State of Tennessee. 2.Graduate of an approved school of nursing. 3. BLS within 90 days ofhire.
Workplace Experience:
Patient Care Delivery Equipment andSkills Training:
The ability to work well under pressure, tofunction dependently and independently and to be flexible inapplying basic nursing knowledge to a variety of settings.
Equipment:
Order Entry Computer System; Telemetry; AT&TLanguage Line; Omnicell Medication System;
Physical Environment:
Amedical/surgical unit with patient population ranging from lessthan one year of age> ninety-nine years of age.
Physical Effort:
1. Requires the ability to communicate in English orally and inwriting. 2. Requires prolonged standing and working for up totwelve hours a day. 3. Required to push/pull objects up to 175 lbs.4. Requires the ability to lift and turn patients with assistanceup to 250 lbs.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
Revises the patient’s careplan on an individual basis, identifying problems/needs, nursingdiagnosis, standards of care/practice, interventions consistentwith identified problems and attainable outcomes. Assists withpatient teaching, discharge and post discharge needs as appropriatefor patient population. Functions independently with treatments,procedures and equipment appropriate to areas evidence by adherenceto policy, procedure and competency based assessment and no patternor trend of problem.
Handles/transports/stores/prepares/administers/solutions safely inaccordance with hospital and departmental policies and proceduresMonitors and reports patient’s condition, evaluate patient responseto treatment and modify plan of care appropriately and in a timelymanner. Documents accurately and timely. Maintains healing andtherapeutic environment for the patient and family. Maintainsposition specific qualifications. Facilitates staff development.
Demonstrates responsibility for assigned communications. Maintainswork area and personal appearance in a way that reflectsprofessionalism and demonstrates to our patients, visitors andcoworkers the importance we place on cleanliness, orderliness andsafety.
