POSITION SUMMARY

The nurse isresponsible for working with other healthcare professionals to helptreat patients with various injuries, illnesses, or disabilities.

Their duties include communicating with doctors and otherRegistered Nurses about patient needs, administering IVs andmedications to aid their patients’ health and using medicalequipment to monitor patients’ vital signs.

ESSENTIAL JOBFUNCTIONS

Supports the mission, vision, and goals of theorganization, upholding and promoting company culture and vision.

Participate in oncoming/ outgoing shift report. Completedocumentation per Ciel Senior Living standards to ensure that allcare services are provided, and that residents’ needs are met.

Supervises Resident Assistants on assignments in the nursingdepartment while on shift. Participate in narcotic count at shiftchange, ensuring accurate documentation of inventory count.

Completes administration of medication as directed ensuringcompliance with “Rights of Medication Administration.” Participatesin weekly medication cart audits, as assigned. Assists inre-ordering of medication. Supervises and maintains cleanliness ofmedication room. Ensure that all new medication orders are faxed tothe pharmacy to obtain medication in a timely manner andaccurately. Inform families when mail order medicines need to bereordered. Communicates with physician offices as needed to obtainphone orders or change orders for a resident. Follows PhysicianOrder Protocol to ensure proper processing of orders. Documentsresident change of condition / status per policy. Assists incompleting chart audits and thinning per policy. Assist with thecompletion of required assessments and service plans. Assist withthe development and maintenance of resident service plan / careplan. Assists with documenting incident reports correctly andtimely. Updates DNR’S as needed. Assists Health and WellnessDirector in creating and maintaining resident charts/care files.

Participates in annual flu clinics, TB testing ofassociates/residents. Participates in community Wellness Programsas assigned. Obtains and records residents’ vital signs(temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration), weight, asdirected. Observes resident to detect response to specified typesof medications and prepares report or notifies designated personnelof unexpected reactions. Counsel residents in identifying andresolving social or other problems. Schedules doctor’s appointmentsbased on the needs of the resident. Assures call lights areanswered in a timely manner to attend to the residents needs assoon as possible after the call light is signaled. Attends trainingand conferences as required to stay current with changes in thenursing profession, as well as to maintain appropriate CEU’s forlicense, with prior approval of supervisor. Assures all trainingrequired by the state regulations is completed and documented eachyear. Assures all caregiver duties are performed as assigned anddocumented appropriately. Addresses associate, family, and residentconcerns to promote satisfaction and good communication. Is fullyknowledgeable of the fire evacuation and disaster policy of thecommunity and participates as assigned in fire and disaster drills.

Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent personal or healthinformation concerning residents and staff. Demonstrates anunderstanding of compliance and ethics program policies andprocedures. Completes all mandatory compliance, HIPAA and state andfederal regulatory training as required. Other duties as assignedrelate to the success of the community and the care, comfort, andhappiness of our residents. CB Requirements

EXPERIENCE,QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

Education is required to obtain a statenursing license (LPN/LVN or RN). Must have current LPN licensure ingood standing. One-to-two-year experience preferred in assistedliving. CPR certification Must have strong understanding of theEnglish language sufficient to read, write and interpretadministrative information.
