JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the RN, the LPN provides safe nursing care in a timely manner to patients in the Family Birth Center. The LPN performs within the scope of licensed practical nursing practice as defined by the State Board of Nursing.
PRE-REQUISITES
Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of Practical Nursing with current VT LPN license.
Experience:
Previous clinical experience in Emergency Medicine preferred.
Certifications:
BLS required.

Charge Nurse, Physicians, Shift Administrators, patients and patient’s family, other employees, public & allied health agencies.
SCOPE:
Machinery or Equipment Used:
Computer, phone, fax, addressograph, photocopier, electronic monitoring, and treatment devices.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds. Lifts, positions, pushes and or transfers patients. Pushes, moves or lifts heavy equipment and supplies. Considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching. Prolonged extensive or considerable standing and walking.
Working Conditions:
Regularly exposed to the risks associated with blood borne and other infectious and contagious diseases. Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances (accidents, injuries, illness, emergent situation). Occasionally subjected to irregular hours or unpredictable work situations. Subject to stressful environment due to multiple demands.
Required Protective Equipment:
Includes but not limited to gowns, masks, non-sterile medical gloves, and sterile medical gloves, goggles.
