Travel between clinics is required.
JOB SUMMARY
Medical assistants are responsible for performing a wide range of administrative and clinical tasks as directed by the physician. They may assist with the examination and treatment of patients, interview patients, measure vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight and height) and record information in patients’ charts. Additional responsibilities may include preparing the treatment rooms for patient examinations, drawing and collecting blood samples from patients, and preparing specimens for laboratory analysis. In addition, they may schedule and reschedule appointments as needed. Frequent travel between clinics is required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma Spine and Sports Medicine experience is a major plus!
SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Strong computer, organizational and interpersonal skills Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures within the medical and orthopedic field
SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS
Administrative Duties:
Managing incoming calls, including answering calls and returning messages Scheduling patient appointments and maintaining communication to confirm future appointments Documenting patients’ medical information, including medical history and health insurance information Performing data entry tasks to document patient records within facility databases and maintaining patient files Coordinating daily office activities, greeting patients and checking patients in and out for their appointments Clinical Duties Recording patients’ vital signs, documenting physicians’ notes and changes in medical conditions Taking fluid samples and sending them in for laboratory analysis Prepping exam rooms for clinical procedures and assisting with patient care Assisting physicians during routine checkups, outpatient procedures and other physical exams Monitoring and documenting patient symptoms for physicians’ review during clinical exams Providing compassionate patient support and care, attention and assistance during office visits Escorting patients through out to clinic to ensure all testing is completed (X-Ray, MRI, Physical Therapy, etc.) Assists with all other administrative tasks as requested by
